Then....The Stanley House was built in 1897 as the summer residence of the favorite uncle and aunt of President Woodrow Wilson, Dr. James Woodrow and his wife, Felixina Baker. Dr. Woodrow was the first professor with a Ph.D. in the state of Georgia and a Presbyterian minister. He and "Felie" were married in Milledgeville, Georgia by Woodrow Wilson's father, also a Presbyterian minister.
Now....A popular event venue and bed and breakfast inn since 1984, the Stanley House is now hosting weddings for a second generation of brides. A classic Queen Ann Victorian, its architectural features such as tall ceilings, a grand staircase, ballroom with crystal chandeliers, turret with hand painted mural, and Savannah courtyard complete with a gazebo will impress your guests and provide fabulous photographic opportunities.
